Hi, I would like to ask you about funds transfer from India. My mother is Indian citizen and she wants to transfer US dollars from India to my account in canada, I am Canadian citizen. My question is how much maximum US dollars or Canadian dollars she can transfer to my account in Canada in one year or there is no limit. Thank you
Last year I had transferred funds from my NRO account in India to my bank in Canada using Form A2, 15CA and 15CB. I am an NRI, and the amount transferred was in excess of 5 lakhs. I read that for amounts less than 5 lakhs, only Form A2 was required. That was also my experience during a prior transfer of less than 5 lakhs when I used A2 only.Yet your website states that Forms 15CA &15CB are only required for transfers of upto Rs 50000 per transfer or Rs 250,000 annually. Have the rules changed in this regard? Thanks Albert
However, if an NRI transfers money to someone not related by blood, then there is a tax aspect. Any amount over Rs 50,000 in a year is taxable. Let us say that you are sending Rs 1, 00,000 to a friend in India. This amount will be added to your friend's income. The receiver has to pay a tax on this income.
So if you are thinking of transferring funds from overseas to your parents or close relatives for their personal expenses, you should just directly transfer it to their savings account in India. There won't be any further tax applicable on that amount.

At any given moment, banks and large financial institutions exchange foreign currencies with each other using the interbank exchange rate, also called the mid-market exchange rate. This is the real market price. And it is the ideal rate to use when exchanging and sending foreign currency.
For bank accounts, like those for a business, you will receive 2 small deposits between Rs1.01-1.50 in your bank account. This may take 4-5 business days to happen. Once the amounts are deposited, you will have to enter in the exact amounts to verify your account in PayPal.
All anyone needs to collect the cash is a valid government-issued ID card; the first name and last name used as the sender's name and the receiver's name on the form; the 8 or 10-digit MTCN# (money transfer control number); and the test question and answer. For those customers who regularly complete transactions of international money transfer, some of these collection points offer special identity cards to make the process even faster.
In our experience comparing the international money transfer market, we've found that when people are looking for the "best" way to send money from one country to another, they're usually talking about cost, speed, security -- or a combination of all three.

For instance, although you could send a personal check through the United States Post Office's First Class Mail International Service, deliveries generally take 7-21 days to arrive-and even that timeframe isn't guaranteed. Rather than go that route, it's a better idea to look for a service that offers a faster delivery time.

Now, while filing your IT returns, you find a tax liability of Rs. 2.5 lakh. Under such circumstances, you can reduce your tax amount by adjusting it with the payable TCS.

But there may be taxation to giver in the country of residence. Please check on that. In USA the giver of gift is taxed if the yearly amount of gift exceeds USD 15000/- (Rs.10,50,000/-approx.). But your yearly total gift amount is only Rs.1,20,000/-. So No Tax in USA. Check tax rules if you are residing in any other country.
